One of the 45 projects decided to be supported by TUBITAK 4005 11th Innovative Education Practices Support Program, “An Innovative Approach in Disaster Education: Interdisciplinary Disaster Education (DAFET)-III”, which is one of the 45 projects decided to be supported by TUBITAK 4005 11 Innovative Education Applications Support Program, was carried out at Muş Alparslan University between 21-25 June 2024 under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça KARTAL, a faculty member of Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Education, Department of Basic Education, Department of Classroom Education.
In the project, which has very productive outputs, natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, floods and avalanches were discussed and teachers' teaching skills on the subject were tried to be improved. Activities were carried out on understanding 'Earthquake', which has a high risk potential especially for Muş region, managing the risk, improvement activities, cyber security in earthquake, disinformation and teaching earthquake. Coding and augmented reality applications enabled teachers to develop activities on disasters. In addition, cooperative learning, experimentation, modeling and workshops were carried out with earthquake and nature of science activities. In the Orff-rhythm workshop, DAFET's song lyrics were written with teachers and performed with rhythm. Within the scope of Turkish Shadow Play applications, a disaster teaching activity was staged with Karagöz-Hacivat. Cyber security and disaster relationship was established and applied studies were carried out. A trip observation study was organized to Nemrut Crater Lake and Korkut Fault. All activities and practices in the project attracted great interest from teachers.
For the third leg of the project, the first leg of which was carried out in Trabzon University in 2020 and the second in Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in 2022, 11 different universities, Muş Provincial Police Directorate, Muş Provincial Health Directorate and Muş Provincial DED Directorate cooperated. The project included 4 experts, 12 trainers and 3 guides.
In the project, which lasted for 5 days between June 21-25, 2024 at Muş Alparslan University Complex for classroom, social and science teachers, participants from all over Turkey had a very productive and enjoyable process.
